Deliveroo is distributing 50,000 eco-friendly straws to its restaurant partners - for free
In a continued drive to reduce plastic pollution in the UAE and as part of the company's commitment to be a leader in sustainable food delivery, this week Deliveroo is distributing 50,000 eco-friendly straws to its restaurant partners - for free. Made from cornstarch the Avani Middle East #iamnotplastic straws perform just like traditional plastic straws but are 100% natural, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable.
In partnership with EWS-WWF, Deliveroo has announced it will introduce several environmentally-focused initiatives in the market, to restaurant partners and consumers on the steps they can take to help save the planet. Earlier this year, Deliveroo launched a cutlery opt-in feature within the app, which resulted in 90% of customers opting out, saving millions of pairs of plastic cutlery in select countries.
Anita Strother, General Manager/ Common Grounds comments-
"Bull&Roo group is committed to distributing #IamNotPlastic straws throughout all of our restaurants. As a proud partner of Deliveroo, we are excited that they are joining this initiative full-on by providing these straws to us. This is something that all F&B operators should consider as we need to become part of the solution not the problem."
Anis Harb, General Manager of Deliveroo GCC, comments:
"At Deliveroo, we are always looking at ways to prevent plastic pollution. Our latest initiative will give our restaurant partners the chance to try out eco-friendly straws and will raise awareness amongst consumers at the same time."
